Who are we?
The Idea
The inception of our solution, the EVFS Pools, began from an observation by Ari Mattila. Witnessing a devastating parking garage fire in Liverpool back in 2017, Ari recognized the pressing need for a viable solution to combat electric vehicle fires, which were increasingly becoming a concern with the rising popularity of electric cars.
Traditional firefighting methods, such as dousing the car with water, are ineffective for extinguishing EV fires, as the source of the fire—the battery—is located within the vehicle and cannot be easily reached. Our solution addresses this challenge by fully submerging the vehicle’s battery in water, providing the most effective means of extinguishment without the need to lift the car to a water tank, which can be hazardous and in some cases impossible. All fires need three elements, oxygen, heat, and burning material; the battery is the burning material itself which generates then oxygen, so the heat is the only solvable option to be removed. This concept, supported by numerous independent studies worldwide, formed the basis of what would become the EVFS Pools.

solution for ships
Many shipping companies are refusing to transport electric vehicles due to the danger of the lithium-ion battery catching fire. We are here to solve this problem. Our transferable pool is the perfect solution for ships as getting help isn’t so fast in the sea. The ship’s crew can assemble the pool around the burning vehicle and filled with water to cool the battery down. The pool is easy to assemble even in a tight space and can be adjustable to fit well a fully loaded car deck.
